David Johnson is a Florida-based Republican strategic general consultant to candidate campaigns, initiatives and works as a political advisor to corporations and associations. He founded his company, the David Johnson Group (DJGroup) in 2003 after leading the Republican Party of Florida as Executive Director during the 2002 campaign cycle, having worked for the Party during the Republican ascendency to majority during the 1990’s.

David Johnson currently serves as Senior Advisor and Executive Director of the Florida House Republican Campaign Committee, the largest state legislative campaign committee of its kind in the nation, for Florida Speaker-Designate Sam Garrison. Johnson was a chief advisor to former Senate President Andy Gardiner in his tenure as leader of the Florida Republican caucus as well as many other members of the Florida Legislature, including former Speaker of the House Paul Renner in the 2022 campaign cycle.

DJGroup campaign and corporate clients have been varied in strategic needs and have spanned the nation from the Pacific Northwest to Key West. They have included Florida Governor Jeb Bush, South Dakota Senator John Thune, Miami Congressman Carlos Curbelo, Washington Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, and Florida Congressman Aaron Bean as well as presidential, senatorial, congressional and gubernatorial campaigns across the country, including numerous federal, legislative and initiative campaigns in Florida. 

DJGroup has led independent groups supporting federal candidates in Florida and other states, including the 2020 IE's electing Florida Republicans Scott Franklin, Carlos Gimenez, and Maria Elvira Salazar to Congress, the 2022 Conservative Action Fund superpac supporting successful candidate Laurel Lee in FL-15, and was the Republican advisor to the 2018 Amendment 4 Voting Rights Restoration successful effort in Florida. He also advised the 2014 Amendment 1 Water and Land Conservation campaign and the 2004 Amendment 4 effort to repeal high-speed rail.

David Johnson resides in Tallahassee with his wife Christina. He is a member of the American Association of Political Consultants, been named one of “Florida’s Top Five Republican Political Influencers” by Campaigns and Elections magazine and honored as one of the “100 Most Influential People in Florida Politics” by INFLUENCE Magazine (2016, 2018, 2020, 2022).
